Competitive funding; awards are decided by the scholarship committee.

- Applicants with X1/X2 visas in their passports or the same scholarship category within the previous three years are ineligible
- Apply personally through both the scholarship and university systems and watch for an interview invitation
For Chinese-taught tracks
- Non-Chinese citizenship, good physical and mental health, no criminal record and interest in Chinese teaching
- Age 18–35 on 1 September 2026; up to 45 for employed Chinese teachers
- HSK 3 ≥180 and an HSKK result
